How we measure Workspace usage
We collect a small amount of information about how Workspace is used so we can find broken things and decide what to build next. This section explains exactly what that means.
What we collect
We record that certain actions happened, and nothing about what was in them. A typical event looks like "a user on the Free tier opened the model picker", or "a message was sent to a locally hosted model and the response took 4.2 seconds".
The full list:
- Which pages and panels in Workspace were opened
- Which features were used, and whether they succeeded or failed
- Which model was selected, and whether it ran in your browser or through Locai Link
- Response latency and error codes
- Browser, operating system, device type and approximate country
- An opaque account identifier, so we can tell one person's twentieth session from twenty people's first
What we do not collect
We don't send any of the following to our analytics system, at any point, on any plan:
- The text of your prompts, or any model output
- The contents, names or metadata of documents, images, audio or video you process
- Anything typed into any input field in Workspace
- Screen or session recordings of any kind
- Your IP address, which is discarded at the point of collection
- Your name or email address
Workspace runs models in your browser, or on your own machine through Locai Link. Your conversations and files stay there. Measuring how the product is used doesn't require us to see any of it, so we don't.
Why we do it, and our lawful basis
We use this data to fix faults, to see where people get stuck during setup, and to prioritise the roadmap. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: we need to know whether the product works, and the data is limited to what that question requires. You can object at any time, using the switch described below.
We don't use this data to profile you, to target advertising, or to make any automated decision about you. We don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone for their own purposes.
Who processes it
Our analytics processor is PostHog. Data is held on PostHog's EU infrastructure in Frankfurt, and PostHog processes it only on our instructions under a data processing agreement. Events reach it through a Locai-operated endpoint on locai.co.uk. PostHog is listed in our sub-processor register alongside the rest of our supply chain.
Event data is deleted after 12 months.
Turning it off
Open Settings, then Privacy, and switch off "Help improve Workspace". Nothing further is collected from your account from that point. The switch is free to use, takes effect immediately, and doesn't restrict any feature of Workspace.
